Session #4 Assignments

Our next class will be Mar 8.

Assignments due will be;
  • Using your Charts,  Strong’s, Vine’s, Smith’s Bible Dictionary and/or online resources to define the following; limit your definitions to two paragraphs:
      • Predestination
      • Grace
      • Forgiveness
  • Prepare a paper on Statement of Faith Article  #5, The Work of Christ.
  • Meditate on your Personal Scripture Passage
    • Begin to identify Key Words in your passage and start doing word studies on them. Begin examining the passages before and after them to understand the context of your passage.
  • Darren will do a short (3 min) presentation on "Impartation as it pertains to Righteousness." Aby will do a smilar presentation on "Imputation as it Pertains to Righteousness"
Check out the videos below to bring some clarity to the terms "impartation" and "imputation." The concept of the impartation of righteousness is an outgrowth of the Roman Catholic teaching of "infused righteousness." In other words, the question concerning how we acquire righteousness through Christ is this, "Is it imparted (given to us) or imputed (counted to us)?" Furthermore, "Why is this important?"

An additional word about class
As we continue to refine and develop our capability to study and examine the Scriptures, it would be good to keep in mind the two primary goals of Apollos; To teach a way to study the Bible, in depth on your own, as a blossoming Berean. And, to get familiar with WBF and it's doctrine. For many Apollos grads, this is the first step into a leadership position on the church.

The skills we develop in using our resources to examine the Statement of Faith, our word studies and our personal passages will carry over into our personal Bible study. The SoF and word studies work to bring in the whole range of resources while our work in our personal passage gives us a close look at how to use these new skills and tools to deeply mine the truths from any passage of Scripture.
